Today we want to discuss email marketing. The rise of the entrepreneur is at an all time high and men and women all over the world are taking their creative ideas and turning them into businesses. But knowing how to integrate systems into your business and use them as leverage to grow your business is where many miss the mark.

Today we’re going to share why Email Marketing is so important to your brand growth and why not having one  positions you to lose money rather than generating more of it.

First, let’s better understand what Email Marketing is and isn’t

Email Marketing is when a company sends a broad message or series of messages to potential or current customers to build relationships with customers, create awareness around their brand , product or service and convert them from potential customers to actual paying customers.

What it isn’t: A way for you to spam or harass potential or current customers and clients.

Here at JDCA, we’ve literally experimented with several Email Marketing platforms such as Get Response, A Weber, Vertical Response and Mailchimp. Each platform brings something different to the table but the end goal is always the same- to provide a way for business owners to legally communicate with consumers through email.

So, how are you losing money if you don’t have this magical email marketing system?

Email marketing allows you to collect specific information from your customer such as name, phone number and email. Some even allow you to create your own questions to better segment your email lists and better understand your audience. Once you have this information, you can then begin the process of building relationships with your audience, better introducing your products and services, offer discounts and so forth. But what if you don’t have an email marketing system?

Here’s an example:

Let’s say you own an insurance company and you’ve put together a community event with the goal of sharing the type of insurance plans you offer. 200 people show up to the event to hear your presentation and out of that 200 let’s say 50 are interested in what you have to offer. How do you collect their information? They complete a form, yes? And where does that form go? Into a filing cabinet? You then have to pull out that filing folder and go through each and every person’s name to follow up with them. You’ll have to mark down notes of every single person you’ve communicated with, each time you talk to them, what time you talked to them, if they did or didn’t pick up and the list goes on.

When you have an email marketing system the process would go something like this:

-You collect the consumer’s information either manually or through your website

-They are either manually added to your system or automatically added through your website

-Through your email marketing system you can either set up a series of “onboarding” emails to automatically go out to your list within a certain sequence or manually send email them out as little or as much as you’d like.

This method is more effective because it allows you send mass communication while keeping track of who’s engaging with the content you send out and who’s not. Email marketing systems allow you track open and click rates, you can see where your customers are in the world and you’re also able to curate better communications based on your email statistics.

Email Marketing helps build trust and loyalty in your brand while being able to sell your products and services to the people who want and need them the most.

Platforms like Instagram and Facebook have become goldmines in gaining new business from followers but if you want to keep them coming back and spending money with you, the most effective way is through email marketing.

Here are 4 things you can do with Email Marketing:

Send out coupons to drive online and in store sales

Introduce new products and services to consumers

Track levels of consumer engagement

Expand your reach and get through to the people who want what you have

Build relationships and loyalty with potential and current customers

Though we love social media platforms, we understand that you can only get so far with them alone. You’ll need systems that allow you get in front of people, build with them consistently and easily generate revenue.

Our creative directive here at JDCA had the opportunity to work with Les Brown, a motivational speaker who’s generate millions of dollars both on and offline.  Here’s his take on email marketing “If I lost it all today, I could get it back because I’ve built a place for people to go. I have an email marketing list. The money is in the list.”

The reality is that platforms like Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram can change in an instant. If it does, how will you keep in touch with your customers if the only form of communication you have with them is through Social Media?

We’ve listed a few email marketing systems that we have personally tested and love.

If you need help setting up your email marketing system, we’d love to help. Send us a message.

Mailchimp

We personally use this system and love it. The back office is easy to navigate and they offer various pricing packages to fit your business needs.

Convert Kit

Convert Kit has quickly become the go-to email marketing system for bloggers. If the slight learning curve of mailchimp discourages you, we recommend going with this system.

We like to refer to Aweber as the internet’s marketers marketing system. They’ve been around since 1998 and just about every internet marketer has used Aweber at some point. They offer a 30 day trial if you want to give it a try.
